Louisville Ballet Summer Intensive gives aspiring dancers the opportunity to train like professionals. With our inspiring facilities and world-renowned faculty, dancers will hone their technique and build strength all within an inclusive, encouraging and motivating environment.
Our limited class sizes ensure one-on-one faculty attention and our enriching curriculum is thoughtfully crafted for maximum growth with visible results.
Potential Studio Company candidates are encouraged to attend the Summer Intensive.

Program Features

Daily classes include Ballet, Pointe, Variations, and Conditioning

Additional complementary dance styles such as Modern, Musical Theater, Flamenco, Pilates and Yoga

Partnering classes throughout the program for all levels

Dedicated Men’s Program includes daily men’s technique, strength training, conditioning and partnering

Culminating demonstrations & performances that include original choreography by faculty and guest teachers and excerpts of Louisville Ballet repertoire

Physical Therapy professionals available on-site and offer seminars throughout the intensive

Level placement, based on technical and physical readiness, will be determined at the time of audition and communicated in each dancer’s acceptance letter

The program is limited in class size to ensure an intimate environment with personalized attention tailored to the needs of each dancer

The attention to encouraging dancers to become better technically, artistically, and individually all while maintaining a healthy, kind, and uplifting studio culture is so refreshing and unique.
The training was hard but very rewarding, everyone received similar amounts of attention, and the PT and medical seminars were very helpful. I feel I’ve grown more here than at past summer intensives.
She loved the intensive! I was very impressed by how much she grew as a dancer and the wonderful connections that she made with the students and staff.

Dancers have several options to audition for the

Audition Information
REGISTRATION

Online registration is required. Dancers must register in advance to reserve a place in the audition class. Registration is not complete without payment of the audition fee. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis.

Walk-ups are NOT admissible for NSIA auditions.

Walk-ups are admissible for Louisville Ballet Summer Intensive Regional Tour Auditions if space remains. Walk-up audition fees must be paid online. Cash and check will not be accepted.

Registration fees are not refundable or transferable.

Registration opens Monday, November 9, 2026 for Louisville Ballet Audition Tour sites and Monday, November 30, 2026 for NSIA.
AUDITION DAY DETAILS

The audition class lasts 90 minutes and consists of barre and center work.

Ladies with 3 years of pointe experience should be prepared to go en pointe immediately after barre for the center portion and remainder of the class.

Ladies should wear a solid color leotard, pink tights, ballet and pointe shoes or tights and shoes that align with their natural skin tone. Gentlemen should wear a white shirt, black or grey tights and ballet shoes.

Dancers should submit a headshot and photo of first arabesque (en pointe for ladies) via email to summerintensive@louisvilleballet.org prior to scheduled audition.

Partial and full merit scholarships are available to select dancers.

Audition results are emailed within 12 days of your audition. Level placement will be communicated in each dancer’s acceptance letter.

National Summer Intensive Audition (NSIA)
The National Summer Intensive Audition Tour (NSIA) is a collective of professional ballet schools that was forged to provide young dancers with the opportunity to audition for multiple national level summer programs with a single audition class. Each school in the collective offers in-person auditions at their facilities, and students who attend the National Summer Intensive Audition are considered by all schools in the collective for acceptance to their summer intensives.
The collective includes Atlanta Ballet, Ballet Arizona, BalletMet, Cincinnati Ballet, Colorado Ballet Academy, Kansas City Ballet School, Louisville Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, Philadelphia Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Sarasota Ballet School, Texas Ballet Theater and Tulsa Ballet.

Video Auditions
Dancers auditioning by video should register via the link below. Video applications will not be reviewed until online registration is received. Video auditions will be accepted until March 1, 2026 or until our program reaches capacity.
